How to use it
payer means “to pay”. It is a regular -er verb with a spelling change, so the endings follow the regular -er pattern. The y becomes i before a silent e: je paie, ils paient, but nous payons. In the passé composé it takes avoir: j’ai payé. The past participle is payé. Future and conditional share one stem: je paierai / je paierais.
