FREE FRENCH TOOLS / EVERYDAY

Time and dates in French.

Move the hands and read the time two ways: the everyday twelve-hour sentence and the official twenty-four-hour form used for appointments and schedules. Then check today’s date and any other date in French.

12369
Conversational · 12-hour

Il est quatre heures moins le quart.

After the half hour, count back from the next hour: moins.
Official · 24-hour

Il est quinze heures quarante-cinq.

Train stations, appointments, schedules: hours 0 to 23, minutes as digits.

To be precise in conversation, add du matin, de l’après-midi or du soir: Il est quatre heures moins le quart de l’après-midi.

What this tool is for. Making an appointment, reading a schedule, confirming a date on the phone. The conversational form is what people say; the official form is what you hear from clinics, trains and automated messages.

Levels. A1 covers full, quarter and half hours; A2 adds every five minutes and the moins forms. The quiz follows the level you choose.

Storage. Nothing leaves your browser. The “Right now” button and today’s date read your device clock locally.
