French level test
Sixteen questions from A1 to B2, about six minutes, then a clear estimate of where to start and what to do next. An estimate for your practice, not an official exam.
Find out where to start.
Sixteen multiple-choice questions, four for each level from A1 to B2. You read a short French text or complete a sentence, then pick one of four answers. There is no timer and no back button, so trust your first reading.
- What you get: an estimate of the CEFR level to start practising at, with a bar for each level.
- What it is not: an official exam, a TEF or TCF score, or a CEFR certificate. It does not test speaking or listening.
Questions are original ParleSprint exercises drawn from our A1–B2 course content. The estimate covers reading and grammar only; speaking, writing and listening need a real conversation or an official test. Explore all free tools. Authored for ParleSprint. Spotted a mistake? Tell us.
