How to use it
comprendre means “to understand”. It is an irregular verb, so the present-tense stems have to be learned, but the endings still follow the usual pattern. In the passé composé it takes avoir: j’ai compris. The past participle is compris. Future and conditional share one stem: je comprendrai / je comprendrais.
