How to use it
écrire means “to write”. It is an irregular verb, so the present-tense stems have to be learned, but the endings still follow the usual pattern. In the passé composé it takes avoir: j’ai écrit. The past participle is écrit. Future and conditional share one stem: j’écrirai / j’écrirais.
